The British American Business Council, Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast ('BABC Palm Beach') provides unique business networking opportunities and membership benefits with access to a broad local and transatlantic business network. The BABC Palm Beach was officially launched by Her Majesty's Consul General Keith Allan on January 24th, 2007. We are now in our third year of operation.
The BABC Palm Beach is a member of the British American Business Council network. The BABC is the largest transatlantic business network, with chapters (and more than 3,000 member companies) based in more than 20 major business centers throughout North America and the United Kingdom. The BABC’s chapters are all independent British-American business organizations that participate in the BABC to provide a broader transatlantic business network and additional member benefits for their member companies, including marketing, networking and business intelligence opportunities.
Every year, approximately 1.5 million Britons visit Florida. The United Kingdom is Florida’s second largest investor, with total investment reaching $5 billion. The United Kingdom is the second largest market in the European Union with 60 million consumers. Florida and the United Kingdom have strong trade ties with total trade exceeding $2.5 billion in 2006.
The BABC Palm Beach is a nonprofit business association of companies and individuals undertaking, associated with, or supporting trade and investment locally and between Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast and with the United Kingdom, covering Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.
As well as providing practical business benefits and opportunities for members, the BABC Palm Beach also seeks to encourage a positive local and transatlantic policy environment to assist its members in the efficient and profitable conduct of their business.
We have now hosted events in Boca Raton, Jupiter, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Fort Lauderdale. Our monthly Network events are always well-attended and well-received. Past Guest speakers include HM Consul General Keith Allan, Michelle Hillery (Palm Beach County Film Commission), Gary Hines (Business Development Board of Palm Beach County), Mike Daniel (Burt Reynolds Museum), Senator David Aronberg, Justin Bell (Race Car Driver), Anne Gannon (Palm Beach County Tax Collector), Ken Kennerly (The Honda Classic) and Al Zucaro (World Trade Center Palm Beach).
Michael Towner represents BABC Palm Beach on the BABC’s Board of Directors, which elects the President and Vice President of the BABC, and designates its Executive Committee, at its meeting immediately following the BABC’s Annual Transatlantic Conference in the Spring of each year.
